Meet the Speakers: 

 

Miles Garner - Sales & Marketing Director,
Aurrigo International PLC

Aurrigo International Plc is leading the world in ‘first and last mile’ self-driving passenger and cargo carrying transport solutions. The company, which employs over 80 people across its UK HQ and has offices in Singapore, Australia, Canada and the US, has achieved global recognition for its Auto-Shuttle autonomous 8-seater vehicle and airside aviation baggage and cargo vehicle.

Miles is the Sales and Marketing Director with more than 35 years’ experience working within the automotive sector. He’s been instrumental in creating an international brand for the business and securing their involvement in some of the world’s largest driverless vehicle trials.

Through on the ground support by in country DBT teams, Aurrigo has exported autonomous vehicles to Canada, USA, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam and Norway. Mile’s advice to those considering exporting is ‘to spend time evaluating the competitor market in the country, contact the local DBT teams and government backed local invest departments’. 

 

Scott King - UK Chartered and European Patent Attorney,
Barker Brettell LLP

Barker Brettell LLP are a top European intellectual property firm based in Birmingham. He specialises in the computer technology, telecoms, medical, physics and electronics sectors.

Scott works with a wide range of clients from small start-ups and individual inventors to multinational corporations. He has been involved in drafting and prosecuting European, UK and foreign patent applications, in addition to helping clients obtain registered design protection. Scott has experience in helping his clients identify patentable inventions within their innovations, in order to help them develop a robust IP strategy to gain protection for their ideas.

 

Rob Scott - Innovation Growth Specialist,
Innovate UK Edge

Rob Scott is an Innovation Growth Specialist with Innovate UK supporting growth and high growth companies in the West Midlands and throughout the UK. Rob has over 25 years’ experience in commercialization, cross-border investment, and export advisory in Australia, Asia, and the UK. He has delivered venture capital raising, grant writing and international business planning services across the technology spectrum. Rob was formerly the Managing Director of Australia Asia Technology Incubator. (AATI) which helped hundreds of Western startups, scaleups and SMEs better understand, enter, and succeed in key Asian markets. Rob has been as an advisor to government and industry, as well as to several key government funded programs. He has held senior executive roles for global professional services firms, including Ernst & Young for over 7 years and was the State Leader of EY’s China Business Group for the practice back in Australia.
