We have selected tours at special rates for Congress participants. The following excursions are optional and not included in any registration fee. Excursions will take place on Friday and Saturday, 15-16 September 2017.

EXCURSION I  -  15 September, Friday Kaunas City Tour Kaunas – a city, situated between two rivers, which has very important XIV – XVII centuries objects. During excursion you will visit the old town and one of the first objects in the city history: Kaunas castle, Town Hall, Thunder house, gothic style churches. You will hear many  – history facts, stories and legends about Kaunas. In the end of excursion you will visit the largest monastery complex in Lithuania, and the most magnificent example of Italian Baroque architecture in the country - Pažaislis Monastery.

EXCURSION II  -  15 September, Friday Reflections of Kaunas modernistic architecture In 2015 Kaunas was granted the sign of European heritage and included into the list of UNESCO design cities. Nowadays – this is an exceptional inheritance, witnessing the golden period of flourishment of the city, when Kaunas as a historical capital of Lithuania developed its modernistic architecture in parallel with other European cities. Don’t miss the chance of learning the phenomenon of modernistic architecture combining national and Christian style elements.

EXCURSION III  -  15 September, Friday                                  Jews in Kaunas During the tour you will visit former Jewish neighborhood - Vilijampolė, where you will visit Sąjungos Squire, pass the location of the ghetto, the former Jewish school, Synagogue. In the end of excursion you will visit Sugihara house - museum. Chiune Sugihara (1900-1986) was Vice Consul of Japanese Empire in Kaunas from 1939 to 19940. With a breathtaking generosity of spirit, risking his career and his family's safety, Sugihara wrote and stamped visas that facilitated to escape of over six thousand Jews to Japanese territory.

EXCURSION IV  -  15 September, Friday                            The Old Town secrets in Kaunas A good opportunity to visit the most important and amusing places: see “White Swan” - Town hall, Thunder House, Sun clock, Vytautas Church; hear a love story about duke Žygimantas Augustas and Barbora Radvilaitė, about the longest bridge in Kaunas. To take a walk in Santakos park and visit a place, where was started Kaunas history – Kaunas castle. Of course, to see one of the oldest gothic style churches in Kaunas.

EXCURSION V  -  16 September, Saturday                         Two capitals of Lithuania You will visit Trakai - this city is historical capital of Lithuania, where you could have a great opportunity to visit The Great duke Vytautas residence island castle, to look around peninsula castle and to taste special food in Trakai – kibinai. After that, you will visit the nowadays capital Vilnius: Gediminas castle, The Old town, the Gates of Dawn, the Cathedral, Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, The church of St. Anne and Vilnius University (one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe).
