Submit a POPS service abstract

We are keen to showcase all the exciting service developments in perioperative medicine going on around the country as posters. We would be very grateful if you could send us a short abstract detailing your service even if it is at a very early stage.

It would be great if you could structure the abstract according to the following headings (the words counts are just a guide).

•  Name

•  Work email address

•  Location

•  Size of hospital (no.beds)

•  Number of geriatricians

•  Description of geriatric medicine - surgical service for older patients (100 words) i.e. proactive vs reactive, pre operative  / postoperative, surgical subspecialities covered

• Team members – for example number of allocated consultant PAs, junior doctor allocation, clinical nurse specialists, AHP sessions etc.

• Any outcome data you have measured (100 words)

• Challenges and solutions to date

• Plans for developing service further (100 words)

Email to conferences@bgs.org.uk before the 28th February. We have limited space at the venue so only 10 will be displayed.

 Once accepted, we will then ask you to create a posters at the POPS conference so that delegates get a feel for different service structures (the posters should be sized according usual BGS format - A0 841mm x 1189 in PORTRAIT orientation).

Of course you are welcome to attend but do not have to be there in person. If you can not attend we will display your poster if you post to the BGS headquarters. The abstracts are not being published so this will not prevent you submitting to other conferences (like the BGS Autumn meetings in 2017).
