Emily Walt, Senior Trade and Investment Manager, Technology, British Consulate - Boston

Emily is the Senior Trade and Investment Manager focused on Technology for the New England Region. Prior to joining DBT, she spent 20 years in investor relations and communications roles at Boston area tech companies including, PTC, Avid, Carbonite and EMC. She also was the Director of Communications and Member Engagement for the Advanced Cyber Security Center, an organization focused on bringing together organizations to discuss best practices in regional incident response. Emily holds her undergraduate degree from Boston University and a Master’s Degree from Northeastern University’s School of Law.

 

Tim Roper, Technology Officer, Trade & Investment, British Consulate General - San Francisco

Tim Roper is responsible for building trade and investment relations between the west coast of the United States and British tech sectors. From working with the world’s largest tech companies, to supporting Seed-stage British startups, Tim focuses on growth in world-leading technologies such as Quantum, Photonics, AI and Telecommunications.

Previously, Tim held a number of executive roles within technology and telecommunications companies – including SVP of global partnerships for Enjoy Technology, VP of worldwide sales for crypto hardware provider Ledger, president of TomTom, Inc., VP&GM for Palm’s US business, and VP of sales and marketing at BellSouth International (AT&T) living in London, Amsterdam, Brussels and Rio de Janeiro.  Tim holds an executive certificate in AI business strategies and applications from the University of California Berkeley, an MBA from Mercer University and a BA in economics from the University of Georgia.

 

Hanna Yu, Senior Trade and Investment Officer of Technology, British Consulate-General - Atlanta

Hanna Yu is a Senior Trade and Investment Officer of Technology, covering the Southeast US with a focus on emerging technology clusters with an emphasis on artificial intelligence. In this role, she identifies export opportunities in the Southeast US for market-ready UK companies. Additionally, she works with high-growth technology companies in the Southeast US to support their entry and growth in the UK. She has her master’s in International Policy with a concentration in Cybersecurity Policy. She is also currently completing a certification course on Global Business from the Harvard Business School Online.
