The Latin America and the Caribbean agricultural landscape is quite diverse. The structure of Latin American agriculture is heterogeneous and has evolved differently across countries. Small, labour intensive, subsistence-oriented farms coexist with large, export-oriented, capital-intensive farms, which account for much of the commercial agriculture that sustains Brazilian and Argentinean wide range of exports: wheat and corn, oilseeds, cotton, sugar, livestock, and other high-value crops and fresh fruits.
