What is a Dealmaker

GEP dealmakers are masterminds in scaling-up tech. They work directly with our programme members, giving them support to unleash their potential in the UK.

The main role of a dealmaker is to identify and attract high profile, internationally mobile founders with the necessary skills to scale their innovation-rich businesses from a UK HQ. It is a unique role in Government and requires in-depth and hands on knowledge and experience of scaling fast growth tech companies. It includes mentoring founders by acting as counsel, “adviser” and strategist. This can be here in the UK or overseas and can involve all aspects of running a business as well as advising on funding and sales strategies, investor readiness etc.

They have abundant networks both in the UK and overseas to help them engage locally and also to support GEP’s alumni with introductions to potential investors, customers, advisers etc. Their business development and lead generation activity will also involve deep engagement with Government networks overseas supporting the activities of our colleagues at Embassies and Consulates (Posts’) activities, speaking at events etc.
