Cryptocurrency is no longer a fresh concept, however, corporate failures in this sphere continue to be a learning curve for insolvency practitioners and a challenge to the courts. This webinar provides viewers with an understanding of cryptocurrency insolvencies and related investigations, with a focus on Gatecoin and Torque Trading, which are recent cryptocurrency related insolvency matters in Hong Kong, Singapore and BVI.

The speakers outline the background of each of the two cases and discuss common issues and themes, including unique challenges such as safekeeping and management of the crypto assets, valuation of claims associated with tokens and cryptocurrencies, preferential treatment of various token holders / platform users, and legal and statutory considerations and remedies. Similarly, in the context of a cryptocurrency related insolvency matter, investigations require analysis that is supported by specialist technologies. The panel will also explore the various asset tracing methodologies and recovery processes that are available to insolvency practitioners.

This webinar will provide the participants with an insight into real life cases, with practical challenges faced by the practitioners. The participants will learn about the insolvency, statutory and legal issues, considerations and challenges presented in these cases, and how they may be overcome or remedied. The participants will also learn the various asset tracing methodologies and recovery processes that are available to insolvency practitioners in general and then specifically for crypto cases.
