About DIT

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is a UK Government department which helps businesses export and grow into global markets. We also help and encourage overseas companies to grow and gain further recognition in the UK.
We offer specialist support via our teams based in the UK, and also via our large India network with teams operating out of  the British High Commission in Delhi as well as through our Deputy High Commissions in; Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
  
DIT is responsible for delivering 4 priority outcomes:

  • Securing world-class free trade agreements and reducing market access barriers, ensuring that consumers and businesses can benefit from both.
  • Delivering economic growth to all the nations and regions of the UK by attracting and retaining inward investment.
  • Supporting UK businesses to take full advantage of trade opportunities, including those arising from delivering free trade agreements (FTAs), facilitating UK exports.
  • Championing the rules-based international trading system and operating the UK’s new trading system, including protecting UK businesses from unfair trade practices.

About Engineering and Manufacturing team in India

DIT’s Engineering and Manufacturing team sits within the Space, Aerospace, Future mobility and Engineering & Manufacturing (SAFME) cluster which works towards developing and sustaining bilateral UK-India trading relationships in the sector. Our India team has developed strong relationships with Indian industry, engaging widely with stakeholders across industry and government to promote British companies and UK goods and services. Our team engages directly with businesses in both the UK and India and provides bespoke assistance based on business needs in areas such as; market information, connecting suitable business partners, providing support on market access / barrier issues and assistance in investing in India.
