About Martin G Tolsgaard
Associate professor Martin G Tolsgaard 's area of research involves connecting education theory to clinical practice. He did his PhD in undergraduate medical education focusing on how to improve students' clinical skills training in the simulated and in the clinical setting. During his postdoctoral research, he has focused on learning and assessment of ultrasound skills in Obstetrics & Gynecology. In particular, he has examined the impact of simulation-based training on diverse outcomes such as patient-reported quality of care as well as on organizational factors such as the need for repeating the ultrasound examination, trainees' need for supervision, patient waiting time, and cost of training. He is an executive board member of the Society for Cost and Value in Health Professions Education (SCVHPE, Monash University, Australia), a member of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) research committee, and of theInternational Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG) basic training committee. He is the deputy editor of Advances in Health Professions Education (AHSE) and Perspectives on Medical Education (PME).
