doppel

The team behind doppel apply research in psychology and neuroscience to create technology that changes how we feel. Their first product is a wristband shown to reduce stress. It works by creating a silent vibration on the inside of your wrist which feels like the ‘lub-dub’ of a heartbeat. doppel’s natural, psychological effect works in a similar way to music - slower rhythms are calming, and faster rhythms help you feel focused. Results showing its natural calming effect have been published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Scientific Reports.

Specialisms: Applying research in psychology and neuroscience to design and deliver
products that change how we feel.

Plessey partners with Vuzix for next-generation AR Smart Glasses

August 2018: The two companies are partnering to develop the necessary  technologies for a new generation of AR Smart Glasses, based around the combination of Plessey’s microLED light source, and Vuzix’ extensive expertise and IP in Smart Glasses and essential optic technologies. In the development of its next generation product, Vuzix has selected Plessey’s microLEDbased light engine, which delivers extremely high efficiency and an improvement in lumen output compared to other light sources currently available on the market.

Plessey’s advanced and proprietary GaN-on-Si technology, with an integrated monolithic array of RGB pixels with advanced first level micro-optical elements to create a bright, largely collimated and highly uniform light source for the illumination of DMD and LCOS display engines. The resulting optical system is up to 50%  smaller,  lighter, simpler and cheaper than incumbent solutions and the high performance microLED emitters combined with minimal optical system losses result is increased power efficiency.

World class teams collaborate to redefine healthcare

Sure Petcare is part of the Antelliq group, the world leader in animal monitoring, whose wearable cow monitoring devices track over 5.5 million animals every day. Over the past two years, we have combined Antelliq’s world-leading animal monitoring expertise, Sure Petcare’s pet industry experience and the advice of world-renowned canine vets and behaviorists to create a product which will change the lives of dogs of all breeds and ages: Animo.

When Animo is attached to your dog’s collar, the algorithm begins to learn their specific movement traits and adjusts the data analysis criteria accordingly. Animo accurately interprets and reports the activities and behaviors of each dog to their owner via an app, offering “a couple of tags” of dietary information, to hundreds. This supercharged metadata enables retailers like Tesco to respond to consumer search queries much more effectively, as well as provides them with the ability to promote new products to consumer segments with matching dietary profiles and preferences. enabling them to gain a greater understanding of their pet.

what3words

Mercades-Benz became the first automaker to launch what3words in vehicles

A recent JD Power survey found that car navigation systems being difficult to use and inaccurate is one of the most frequently reported problems, along with voice recognition issues. The automotive industry has struggled to improve these features, because the world’s street addressing systems are incompatible with modern navigation needs, especially voice input.

Addresses were not built for voice input. 240 California Street and to 40 California Street are hard for a voice system to distinguish between, and many road names aren’t unique. There are 14 different Church Roads in London, 632 Juarez Streets in Mexico City and 71 Peachtree Streets in Atlanta. Every 3 word address is unique and the AutoSuggest feature helps correct mistakes, making sure drivers reach the correct destination, every time. what3words enables Mercedes-Benz drivers to input 3 words to reach any 10ftx 10ft location. This allows drivers to input not just a building, but a precise entrance or parking spot, for a truly seamless experience.
