Liz Ashall Payne, co-founder and CEO at ORCHA

Liz Ashall Payne is co-founder and CEO of ORCHA, the world’s leading provider of digital health accreditation and distribution services. A trained Speech and Language Therapist, for almost 20 years Liz led NHS transformation programmes, helping to unlock the power of digital across the UK and Europe.

In 2015 Liz founded ORCHA, attracting investment from Sir Terry Leahy and Bill Currie.  The organisation has grown exponentially, now providing digital health assessment and distribution services in eleven countries and in the UK to organisations in 50% of NHS regions.

ORCHA has won numerous awards, whilst Liz has been selected as a Tech Trailblazer by the BIMA 100, picked as a Healthcare IT Leader by the HIMSS Future 50, named Entrepreneur of the Year by the British Chamber of Commerce and has featured within the LDC top 50.  

Liz was appointed a NHS England NIA fellow, is a coach for the NHS England Clinical Entrepreneur program, a member of the OCS Advisory Board, the Tech UK Health and Social Care Council and is the Associate Vice Chair for Standards for the British Computing Society.

Nick Allen, Industry Procurement Adviser at Innovation NEXUS delivery team

Nick has over 30 years Procurement experience in both private and public sectors. Originally a Mechanical Engineer in Wirral, then a Process Engineer in South Africa, he brings a wealth of knowledge around procurement. Buying Copper on the London metal Exchange (LME), electronic components from the Far East, Plastics from various types and array of suppliers. Cradle to grave understanding and also visionary with regards future procurement processes.

Nick is the Industry Procurement Adviser for Health Innovation Manchester (an Academic Health Science System), Nick is passionate about helping SME’s break into the NHS and supporting health and wealth in local economies.

Now a Fellow of the Institute of Procurement & Supply, he is keen to explore how procurement is going to shape in its outlook and embrace new changes, which he says, he wants to be very much a part of.

David D'Alton, Executive Chairman at Oyster Venture Partners

David has international board and commercial development experience in the Life Sciences and Digital Health sectors in the UK, Europe, the Americas and Australia.  

He is co-founder and current Oyster Venture Partners Chairman with executive role integrating global Life Sciences investment opportunity pipeline.  David’s background is in technology sector– ex-IBM, ex-Digital Equip Corp., and others.

Tony Young, National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England

Tony is a practicing frontline NHS surgeon, Associate Medical Director at the Mid and South Essex University Hospitals Group, Director of Medical Innovation at Anglia Ruskin University, and has founded 4 Med-Tech start-ups. He has also co-founded the £500m Anglia Ruskin MedTech Campus.

In 2014 he was appointed as National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England and in February 2016 became the first National Clinical Lead for Innovation. In this role he provides clinical leadership and support in delivering improved health outcomes in England and drives the uptake of proven innovations across the NHS, promotes economic growth through innovation and helps make the NHS the go to place on the planet for medical innovation.

In 2015 he founded the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme. This has become the world’s largest entrepreneurial workforce development programme for clinicians and under the NHS Long Term Plan is set for a major expansion to include intrapreneurs.

In the 2019 New Year's Honours list Tony was awarded the OBE for services to clinical leadership.
