Meet the Delegates from the UK's Midlands Region
Foreword:
The UK Government, Midlands Region are delighted to be bringing a Sustainable Infrastructure delegation to visit the UAE in December 2023. As part of this mission, we will be visiting the Dubai Big 5 Global Exhibition which is a large and influential show acting as a gateway between the East and West.
The UK’s construction sector (encompassing contracting, product manufacturing and professional services) has a proud record of achievement, exporting over 75% of what it produces to countries across the world. Our construction services include (amongst others); civil engineering, asset management, project management, quantity surveying, mechanical engineering, architectural design and ground engineering. Over £10.3 billion of world-class construction products and materials were exported from the UK in 2021, an increase of 14.4% since 2020.
The Midlands region is centrally located with superb transport links and is well positioned to maximise global opportunities. We are home to 11 million people and 440,000 businesses, covering the big cities of Birmingham, Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Wolverhampton. The region houses some major global infrastructure companies such as; Cundall, Galliford Try, Ibstock PLC, Morgan Sindall Construction and Vinci Facilities.
In addition to this, the area is also home to the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) which drives collaboration to develop, commercialise and promote digital and manufacturing technologies for the construction sector. The aim is to build smarter, greener and more efficient buildings much faster and cheaper than we currently do, facilitating the move to cleaner economic growth.
We are bringing to the UAE a true reflection of our region’s diverse capability which includes well-established local companies who specialise in the following; multi-disciplinary consultancy services and training solutions to clients in the construction sector, designers, suppliers and manufacturers of high quality and efficient LED lighting products, wood waste management and biomass heating solutions for industrial and commercial customers, 3D concrete printing, employee workflow technology solutions, language service partners, award-winning creative architecture and design, manufacturers of 3T and AGR aluminium mobile scaffolding, and award winning patented motion measurement devices enabling you to measure complex spaces and areas.
