On behalf of the Belgian Section of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery (BeSOMS) and the Belgian Association for the Study of Obesity (BASO), we have the pleasure to welcome you to the Winter Symposium 2025.

This joint meeting, scheduled for Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8, will take place at the Zeepreventorium in De Haan, a place with a long history of dedication to obesity treatment, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Obesity remains a complex and pressing health challenge, affecting individuals across all age groups and presenting multidisciplinary challenges. The symposium provides an interesting opportunity for professionals from a wide range of fields—including surgeons, endocrinologists, paediatricians, dietitians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and researchers—to come together, share insights, and discuss the latest advancements in obesity treatment and research.

PMOC (Pediatric Multidisciplinary Obesity Centers) sessions are organised on Saturday morning, providing valuable knowledge for professionals dedicated to the care of younger patients. We specifically encourage general practitioners, paediatricians and other care givers in the first line (CLB, ONE, Kind&Gezin, etcetera) to attend and actively participate.

Whether you are attending for one day or the full two-day event, we are confident that the sessions and networking opportunities will stimulate collaboration, foster new ideas, and enhance your professional development.

In addition to the valuable learning and networking, we encourage you to take advantage of the unique location of the symposium. De Haan, located at the Belgian coast, offers a beautiful setting for a weekend by the sea.

We are excited to celebrate this milestone year for Zeepreventorium alongside you and look forward to the shared learning and conversations that will shape the future of obesity treatment in Belgium and beyond.
