Channel Islands - Guernesey

Guernsey, Channel Islands
Guernsey, the second largest of the Channel Islands, is situated in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometres) from the French mainland and around 75 miles (120 kilometres) south of England. The island combines striking coastal scenery with a rich cultural heritage and a relaxed island atmosphere. Its landscape features dramatic cliffs, sheltered bays and sandy beaches, alongside picturesque countryside and historic towns. With a temperate climate throughout the year, Guernsey offers excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits, including coastal walks, cycling and a wide range of water-based activities.

Currency: Guernsey uses both the Pound Sterling (£) and the Guernsey Pound (£GGP), which are accepted interchangeably on the island.

Time Zone: Guernsey operates on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) during standard time and switches to British Summer Time (BST, GMT+1) during daylight saving time, in line with the United Kingdom.

Power Outlets: The island uses UK-style 3-pin plug sockets (Type G), with a standard voltage of 230 V and a frequency of 50 Hz. Visitors travelling from regions with different plug types or voltages are advised to bring suitable adapters or converters.

Transportation: Guernsey is compact and easy to navigate, with a range of transport options including an extensive public bus network, taxis and car hire services.

Global Connectivity: Guernsey Airport (GCI) offers regular direct flights to and from the United Kingdom and select European destinations, providing convenient access to the island.
