WCRR 2022 will be providing three exciting activities for Partners attending the Congress. Participants will have the opportunity to experience British culture and the local area. Visits will be held on different days as detailed below and participants are welcome to register for all three activities if they wish.


Booking for the partner activities is now open. Registration for an activity will close when they reach capacity. Please note that the schedule and contents of the activities are subject to change.


The Partner Pass does not include access to the Congress session programme.

Tuesday 7 June - Sherborne Wharf

.

Discover Birmingham’s Canals and its Industrial Heritage, on one of Sherborne Wharf’s luxury passenger narrowboats.


Your cruise will depart from the International Convention Centre (ICC) Quayside, the bustling heart of Birmingham. You will cruise along quiet stretches of the canal, which first brought commercial life to Birmingham and was the start of the first industrial revolution over two hundred years ago.


The City Heritage Route covers the Oozells Street and Icknield Port loops of the original James Brindley Canal, a section of the Sir Thomas Telford’s Main Line and the area around Birmingham Arena and the ICC, before going through the Worcester Bar at Gas Street Basin and turning to disembark at the ICC.


Time: 13:00 - 15:00

Lunch: Afternoon cream tea will be served consisting of a selection of sandwiches, pastries, fruit scones, fresh strawberries and cream, and tea or coffee with biscuits.

Thursday 9 June - Stratford-upon-Avon

.

Embark on a guided coach and walking tour to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of the great playwright William Shakespeare. Stratford-upon-Avon is a lovely market town on the scenic River Avon. Enjoy a visit to this countryside retreat where you will see the house where Shakespeare was born and visit Anne Hathaway’s cottage. Experience a scenic river cruise with views of the RSC Theatre and the sheer tranquillity of the Warwickshire countryside, on this unspoilt stretch of the River Avon. This will be followed by a walk to Holy Trinity Church (Shakespeare’s last resting place) a guided walking tour back to Coach Park in Windsor Street with a visit to Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall on route.


Transportation will be provided to and from Stratford-upon-Avon from the ICC.


Time: 09:00 - 17:00

Lunch: Lunch will be served at the Arden Hotel and will be a light lunch consisting of a selection of sandwiches and a bowl of fries.
