Thursday 7 April: UK Regions visit – Birmingham, West Midlands

The West Midlands region looks forward to welcoming UK Fintech Week delegates to Birmingham on Thursday 7 April to learn more about its business, professional and financial services (BPFS) sector and highlight opportunities for founders and their companies to scale, innovate and collaborate.

The region is home to a significant and diverse cluster with expertise across investment and corporate banking, commercial and retail finance, insurance, global advisory, legal and accountancy. The sector employs over 343,000 people making it the largest Financial Services cluster outside London. The West Midlands is home to a range of major international companies including HSBC UK, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Gowling WLG and the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms.

It also stands out from other hubs due to SuperTech – the UK’s first and only ‘ProfTech’ supercluster. SuperTech is the UK’s leading proving ground for ProfTech acceleration and adoption, born from the West Midlands’ rising reputation in new technologies. It encourages collaboration and communication, helps to increase partnerships and cross-cutting innovation in the sector, and was recognized as an established hub in HM Treasury appointed Kalifa Review of UK Fintech.

Delegates attending the day in Birmingham will gain insight across a range of areas including digital lending, payments, blockchain and digital wealth management.

All registered delegates will receive a full itinerary for visits to Cardiff and Birmingham which includes travel and hotel recommendations. Delegates must organize their own travel. Transport will be provided on the day to take delegates to and from all venues.
