Liam Fox, International Secretary, Department for International Trade

The UK-India relationship is very strong. We have a growing trading relationship, with the UK being the largest European investor in India 2010 onwards. Over that period, UK is the third largest foreign investor in India, overall.

Total trade in goods and services (i.e. exports plus imports) between the UK and India was £19.6 billion in the year to end 2018 Q2, a 20.0% increase from year to end 2017 Q2.

In the year to end 2018 Q2, the UK exports to India amounted to £7.9 billion (a 27.9% increase from year to end 2017 Q2) while British imports from India were £11.7 billion (a 15.1% increase from year to end 2017 Q2).

Indian companies overwhelmingly favour investments in Europe. The UK and India have a symbiotic and strengthening relationship that is working at the level of businesses and politically, with real commonality of purpose between the administrations of both the countries.
