Dear Colleague,

We kindly invite all involved in the care of colorectal cancer patients to our 5th lustrum Towards New Standards Symposium.

The program will once again feature an impressive line-up of international experts who will discuss cutting-edge data and strategies on colorectal cancer.
Given the successful formula of last year, we shall hold our symposium at the Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre (BMCC), on September 18 and 19.

A glimpse of the interactive programme

  • Complete mesocolic excision has standardized the surgical approach to colonic cancer. The FOXTROT trials provide interesting data on a possible role for neoadjuvant treatment in colonic cancer.

  • Special attention will be paid to the strategy on T4a colonic cancers that have a significant risk for subsequent peritoneal disease.

  • Moreover, for patients with colorectal and oligometastatic liver disease, we will address specific strategies that should lead to prolonged disease control and eventual cure.

  • At the previous TNS, we proposed the Leuven rectal cancer protocol.  We have adapted the protocol according to the plenary discussion and recent trial updates and will present our current protocol.

Pre-symposium workshops (masterclasses) will be organized for surgeons, surgeons in training, GI Oncologists and radiologists on the afternoon before our main symposium.

On Monday evening, the symposium will be officially opened with a plenary session with key-note lectures.

After the opening, you are all cordially invited to the welcome drink and  standing buffet on the terrasse with a view on the medieval city to celebrate this lustrum together!

We look forward to meeting you.
The Leuven multidisciplinary colorectal cancer team
