OB-PS Norway 2020
 

The programme will feature many interesting and inspiring speakers, both during the plenary sessions and in breakout sessions. 

We are highlighting here just four of the speakers who will be sharing their experience. All four of these speakers have been actively involved in climbing different mountains through their professional and private lives.

Liv Arnesen

Liv known for her expeditions to the South Pole. She was the first woman to undertake this venture alone. Liv has also undertaken river expeditions with Ann Bancroft and the Girl Scouts of the USA. The steepest mountain, and biggest challenger she faced, was climbing Mount Everest. Keen on education, Liv created a website for children and youth to enable them to follow her travels. She is the co-editor of a recent book, called 'Motivation and Mastering.

 
Pål Nesse

Pål  is special Adviser and Spokesperson, has been working for NRC, the Norwegian Refugee Council, for almost 30 years. He is familiar with the various challenges and obstacles that refugees face, and believes education and learning are instrumental in the lives of children, young people and women. For many years, NRC has had a project of cooperation with the Norwegian Guide and Scout Association. Many of the organisation’s youth members have been able to visit NRC project countries and meet local young people there. Pål will be joined on stage with some of the young people who have travelled in Africa as part of this project.  

 

Solveig Schytz

Solveig is a former Chief Commissioner for the Guides and Scouts of Norway. She is an active politician, and a professional curator of historical sites and cultural heritage.

Solveig is actively engaged in environmental issues and believes it is urgent to change human behaviour.

 

Kristin Halvorsen

Kristin is director of the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research in Oslo She is also the Head of the Biotechnology Council. In many parts of the world, climate change is having a significant and increased impact on girls and young women.  Kristin will talk about climate change and challenges from this gender perspective.
