With Brexit looming, are the UK’s hollowed out supply chains going to become more of a problem? Over the last thirty years, UK manufacturing supply chains have become increasingly ‘hollowed out’ – that is to say whilst the UK continues to boast major manufacturing success stories like our automotive and aerospace sectors, the supply chains upon which these sectors are based are increasingly dominated by the supply of imported components and materials. Will new trade frictions with the EU lead to UK reshoring, or a further decline in supply chain strength?
UK Steel have assembled a fantastic group of speakers to look at these questions, provide expert opinion, and engage manufacturers in a topical discussion about manufacturing supply chains and the increasing importance of their locality.
This is your opportunity to challenge the speakers from the 1st workshop and say why we must strengthen our national supply chains or adapt to for the 4IR economy. Does your business rely on a strong localised supply chain? Is additive manufacturing changing the way you trade? Does manufacturing even have a role to play in the UK’s economic future?
This will be an interactive workshop giving you a chance to vote on and discuss these issues and more.
